From Nantwich, you need a week to fully appreciate this beautiful trip. Passing through 2 tunnels and 2 aqueducts and a good smattering of locks and bridges, it truely is the best that the northwest has to offer. Moor overnight at Llangollen Basin if you have time and enjoy the lovely town before starting on the return trip. Whitchurch and Ellesmere reachable on shorter trips. After tackling the Northgate Locks, the run to Ellesmere Port is easy and it ends with a visit to the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum. You'll ideally need a week for this trip although it can be done on a 4 night break. Click here to view our travel guide.
Sadly, due to a recent canal breach, this route is not available. We'll update this section when news of repairs are made available. Click here to view our travel guide.
