Why Go On A Narrowboat Holiday?

If you've ever thought about going on a narrowboat holiday but have never actually done it, then maybe this will help you decide to go for it. Back in 2014, I was in a similar position. Ever since I was old enough to choose where I wanted to go on holiday, (and if I think about it, probably earlier than that..) I'd always wanted to give it a try, but for some reason I never actually did it. I'm not sure exactly why...maybe it was fear of the unknown...too much about it would be new to me....I'll never know for sure. But...in October 2014 I decided to put things right and I booked my first trip...a week on a 50 footer, bound for Llangollen.

I'm glad to say it was an excellent decision. Just over 2 years later, I own a 58ft boat and I'm in a great position as I get to offer the same experience to others.

So..why do it...

Well...

With a speed limit of 4mph, its a great way to enjoy a slower pace of life....there literally is no other way....

There is so much freedom....the majority of the canal system is free to moor on....so just pick your spot and moor up....

It's a great way to get rid of the office blues....with all that fresh air, plenty of locks to work and miles and miles of footpaths to explore...

A boating holiday is estimated to be some 20 times better for our planet than spending two hours in an aircraft flying overseas and as soon as
you swap your car for a boat, you’ll be using a third of the fuel and emitting a sixth of the pollution...

Great pubs and eateries are just around the next corner....theres loads of them.....take your pick..

There is so much history to see and experience, from the World Heritage Status Pontcysyllte Aqueduct to the awe-inspiring three-mile long Standedge Tunnel cutting through the Pennines, and so much more...

The very best of our varied wildlife is never far away, from the water vole to the otter and kingfisher, so there’s always something special to look out for...

Our narrowboat has all the comforts of home, from TV/DVD and wifi, to a flushing loo and a well equipped galley. We have a lovely cozy coal / wood burner as well for those chilly nights...

It's easy to learn how to navigate our boat. You don't need a licence and we'll give you all the training you need.

So..what's stopping you?
